This is a sampling of YouTube thumbnails I created for a past YouTube video posted by a company named Steel City Collectibles. Their original thumbnail for the video was decent enough, but not very compelling. I wanted to take it to the next level and designed a few alternate YouTube thumbnails for it. I wanted to create intrigue in a couple of ways. First, I researched a bit about the most exciting draws from these Bowman sports card packs, and made sure to feature some of those on the thumbnail. Additionally, many viewers tend to gravitate towards reactions and funny images in thumbnails. I thought the image of the basketball player shrugging was not only visually amusing, but it creates a little drama immediately. Are the card packs worth it or not? The shrugging makes you unsure, and collectors want to be in the know! Overall, I wanted to draw the viewer in through intrigue, humor, and some cleaned up & bold design.
